(Taken from : Wikipedia #ThanksWikipedia)
Indonesia officially the Republic Of Indonesia is a sovereign state in Southeast Asia and Oceania. Indonesia is anarchipelago comprising thousands of islands. It encompasses 33 provinces and 1 Special Administrative Region (for being governed by a pre-colonial monarchy) with an estimated population of over 252 million people, making it the world's fourth most populous country.

Indonesia consists of hundreds of distinct native ethnic and linguistic groups. The largest - and politically dominant - ethnic group are the Javanese. A shared identity has developed, defined by a national languange, ethnic diversity, religious pluralism within a majority Muslim population, and a history of colonialism and rebellion against it. Indonesia's national motto, " Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" ("Unity in Diversity" literally, "many, yet one")

Indonesia lies between latitudes 11'S and 6'N, and longtitudes 95'E and 141'E. It consists of 17,508 islands, about 6,000 of which are inhabited. Indonesia's location on the edges of the Pacific, Eurasian and Australian tectonic plates makes it the site of numerous volcanos and frequent earthquakes. Indonesia has at least 150 active volcanos.

Indonesia's size, tropical climate, and archipelagic gography, support the world's second highest level of biodiversity (after Brazil) and its flora and fauna is a mixture of Asian and Australian species.

Dowayang Kulit (Shadow Puppet)
Indonesia has about 300 ethnic groups, each with cultural identities developed over centuries, and influenced by Indian, Arabic, Chinese, and European sources. Traditional Javanese and Balinese dances, for example, contain aspects of Hindu Culture and mythology, as dowayang kulit (shadow puppet) performances. Textiles such as batik, ikat, ulos and songket are created across Indonesia in styles that vary by region.

Nasi Kuning (Yellow Rice) dish

Indonesian cuisine varies by region and is based on Chinese, European, Middle Eastern, and Indian precedents. Rice is the mainstaple food and is served with side dishes of meat and vegetables. Spices (notably chili), coconut milk, fish and chicken are fundamental ingredients.
